Locomotion

When descending the stairs, your preschooler is using a reciprocal pattern; placing one foot on each step, without support from wall or rail. He is able to jump 6 inches forward on one foot. He is able to jump up and touch a line 3 inches above standing reach. He is able to run and stop without falling. He is able to walk 4 feet backward without stepping off the 4 inch wide line. He is able to jump 30 inches forward using a two footed take off and landing. He is able to hop forward on one foot and then on the other.

Stationary

Your preschooler is able to stand on tiptoes without moving feet with arms held overhead. He is able to stand on one foot with hands on hips.

Object manipulation

He is able to hit a target 5 feet away using an overhand toss. He is able to throw a small ball for over 10 feet using an underhand toss and upper trunk rotation and moving arms and legs in opposition.
