Locomotion:
At this age, your toddler is able to walk down 4 steps of the stairs without support (may place 1 or both feet on each step). He is able to walk backwards for 10 feet. He is able to jump up 2 inches. He is able to walk 3 steps forward on a taped line on the floor. He is able to place 1 foot on each step when going up 4 steps of the stairs. He is able to jump down a 16 inch platform without assistance (1 foot may lead). He is able to walk on tiptoes for 5 steps and able to run 30 feet.
Object manipulation:
Your toddler is attempting to catch an 8 inch ball by presenting extended arms directly in front, palms facing upward or facing each other and bending arms towards chest. He initiates an overhand throw by moving his arm upward and back; a small ball travels 7 feet before touching the floor. He is using opposing arm and leg movement and initiating a kick by extending his leg back with bent knee. The ball travels forward 6 feet.
